Credit History Checking

Your credit history is one of the most important factors which will be taken into account when credit bureaus are working out your credit score, which is a necessary part of deciding if you are a risk.

Your credit score is used to determine your likely spending behaviour, basing potential future money management on your past performance. So, even if you have changed your ways, you need to be aware that any previous bad credit will count towards your present credit score.

In fact, credit history counts for around 30 percent of your credit score. So if you have money problems in the past, the sooner you can start to demonstrate good credit ratings, by dealing with your present debts, the better.

This will enable credit agencies to get some sense of your expected in future behaviour and if you want to be able to borrow money in the future, this is very important.

So it may take a little work to convince lenders that you should be given a second chance.

So, what goes against you when it comes to credit history? Not paying your taxes is a big factor in bad credit ratings , along with loans which you have defaulted on and any late payments which are still outstanding.

Clearing any major debts is your first step towards improved credit ratings. Bankruptcies are the most difficult financial problems to wipe from your credit history. If you have filed for bankruptcy in the past, you should now focus on current debts and make every possible effort to get these paid off to show credit agencies that you have changed.

If you are able to demonstrate an emerging new and more positive pattern, you will get a new credit score as a result.

Although it might take a while to reverse bad credit history, the sooner you make a start, the sooner you will be rewarded with an improved credit score.
